First of a New Month

Wow!  January flew by!
I was working on the twins six month birthday quilts.  They have pretty much outgrown their baby quilts.  Hard to believe they used to both fit on one.  I made them pink and purple again, moms' request.  But brighter colors and a crazy zigzag pattern for an I Spy inspired shape quilt.  Most of the fabric came from Hobby Lobby.  I did a scrappy binding and a super soft fleece backing.
And yes, all by hand.

Will get around to adding photos when computer starts behaving.

As for the goals.  Well, as many New Years' Resolutions, they have been more than I can handle.  I do have the scraps left over to make one quilt with the pink and purple together.  I just took longer making these than I thought.

The kids' charity project had bee nmoved to March.  I'm still taking donations.  They are going to do trip around the world quilts.  And I will have pictures then too.  The winter weather and sports have kept this postponed.

What we are working on for this year

Setting goals is so important.  I have set for myself the goal of completing one item for charity each month.  And I am already in the process of making two Valentine's gifts, and know that I need to make 2 quilts for a July birthday of our friends' twin baby girls.  Somewhere I have a UFO Christmas top i made two years ago and put away.
Plus, my scrapbooks need major attention.  Last vacation, the twin girls' I mentioned earlier, Christmas recording, and arranging the daily photo albums too.
I don't want to get overwhelmed and burn out early.  Monthly goals are better for me.

My daughter wants to have 100 new items for a craft show in May.  That's 20 a month.  A hefty goal for a student with a couple of extra-curricular activites and church involvement.  Staying the course in a steady manner will be her proirity.

Have you made crafting goals for the New Year?  I'd love to hear about them.

Happy New Year!!!!

Hello all!  Welcome to 2015!!

Instead of making a list of resolutions, I went in the idea of one word, and picked what I felt God was giving me for this season of life.  the message of LIGHT!

There is a lot of meaning in that word for me.  I want to be the salt and light in this world where I encounter a great deal of meaness and hate.  I need to lighten up and get a little, ok a lot, healthier this year.  And I love the verse as I come out of a 7 year long deep depression, that I see light ahead, and all my days are not as dark as they once were.

Have you made resolutions?  Or chosen a theme verse?  Or a word?  Care to share?

Mrs. B's Quilt

Now that the gift has been delivered, and the baby girl is being anticipated, I can show you the secret project I worked on for my sons' teacher.

I used up my stash of Auntie Grace that I had been holding onto for years!  I love 30s fabric, but hate to cut into it.  I hand pieced, appliqued, and hand quilted the whole thing.  It has a poly batt and is a bit stiff now, but after a few washings it should be just fluffy and soft.

I wanted to sew posies around the outside but sould not find a template to print, so circles it was.

Planning on linking up to a few of my favorite quilt blogs this week:

I'd love for you to leave a comment or say hi if you stopped by!  Thanks, and have a great week.

Second Butterfly Quilt Finished

My second modern baby butterfly quilt is finished and up for sale on etsy...
It uses a lot of the same fabrics as the first one, but is made in a nine-patch pattern with black and pink as the focal colors.
I'm so glad to finish this off, as the needle I was using kept poking my little fingers, boohoohoo.
Hope you enjoy looking and I'd love some positive feedback.

Hoping to link up with some other quilty friends this week at...A Round Tuit, Skip to My Lou, Fabric Tuesday, Show and Tell Tuesday, Sew Cute, WIP Wednesday, Needle and Thread Thursday, Let's BEE Social, Can I Get a Whoop Whoop, and Finish It Up Friday.
